Dinanath Tiwari


Dinanath Tiwari (born 1951) is an Indian politician, advocate and lawyer. He is the President of the South Mumbai district of the Indian Bharatiya Janata party, or BJP. He began his career in the youth wing of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, a nationalist Indian political party. He is currently running for elections in Mumbai.
He was active in the Youth Wing of BJS and was a student of Patuck Technical High School at Vakola Bridge. Subsequently, he was a student of Kirti College, Dadar, where Dinanath Tiwari took keen interest in student politics and where he actively participated in community service. During the mid 70s he actively opposed the The Emergency, which imposed severe restrictions on the fundamental rights of India.He joined the movement of Shri. Jaiprakash Narayan during the emergency and was an active youth leader of the Janata Yuva Morcha. During this time he was influenced by Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a later prime minister of India. Tiwari was among the founding members of the BJS' successor, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). While still remaining active in politics, Dinanath Tiwari chose to practice as a lawyer in the Mumbai High Court. He has fought many legal cases, although some accuse him of being an "in-house" lawyer for the BJS party.〔 He currently is active in Santacruz, Mumbai and Kurla, Mumbai.
==Accomplishments==

* Dinanath Tiwari took the case of the victims of 11 July 2006 Mumbai train bombings to the Maharashtra Human Rights Commission and ensured employment and payment of compensations along with interest to them.
* Currently, Dinanath Tiwari is in the midst of a courtroom case to ensure compensation for policemen affected by the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks.
* He has also represented high-profile politicians including Shivsena Supremo Hon'ble Shri. Balasaheb Thackeray, BJP leaders Shri Gopinath Munde and Shri Nitin Gadkari, among others.
* When the Mumbai floods of July 2005 swamped the Kalina-Vakola-Kurla area, Dinanath Tiwari helped undertake rescue and relief work. 10 kg rice, wheat, and lentils were distributed to 28,000 households. School books were distributed to underprivileged students.
* Because drug peddling in the vicinity of the Mumbai University was a serious concern, Tiwari helped BJP undertake a Peace March and compel authorities to take strict action against the drug traffickers.
* Dinanath Tiwari played an instrumental role in convincing authorities to get clean and widen drains clogged by encroachment to improve the flooding situation during heavy rains.
* Through the efforts of him and his party the work on a bridge to connect Santacruz, Mumbai to reduce a 20-minute travel time to less than 4 minutes.
* He and his party have taken the service provider to court on the subject of tariffsunder Section 128 of MERC wherein an audit of their accounts for the last 6 years will be conducted soon.
* He is providing 10 tankers of clean drinking water every day to affected areas.
* Dinanath Tiwari organised the famous 'Santacruz Cultural Festival' to lend a platform to the suburbs' budding singers, debaters, dancers, body builders and painters among others.
